Framing a Ceramic Coating Project with Solution Finish to Complete an aesthetic overhaul and transformation

Framing Perfection: The Deep Clean Detail on a Stunning Audi A4 Allroad

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a gorgeous Audi A4 Avant Allroad into our detailing bay. Finished in deep metallic black paintwork with a sumptuous cream leather interior, this car was a perfect candidate for our premium deep clean detail and paint rejuvenation service.

The goal? To restore this German estate to a finish that truly pops, highlighting not just the paint but the crucial elements that "frame" the vehicle's appearance—the glass, trims, and wheels.

Phase 1: The Foundation – Decontamination & Preparation

The first step in any high-end detailing job is meticulous preparation. The metallic black paint, while beautiful, was showing the signs of daily driving, heavily contaminated with embedded particles:

  1. Chemical Decontamination: We started with a thorough wash and bath, followed by the use of dedicated fallout remover to dissolve tiny, sharp metal particles embedded in the lacquer, which are a major cause of swirling and dullness.

  2. Tar Spot Removal: Stubborn tar deposits were safely dissolved and removed.

  3. Mechanical Decontamination: A fine-grade clay bar was used over the entire surface, pulling out the last remaining bonded contamination to leave the paint perfectly smooth and ready for correction.

With the paint perfectly clean and dried, the stage was set for the transformation, but first, a critical step to achieve ultimate clarity: the wheels.

Partners in Perfection: We immediately removed the wheels, which were suffering from road rash, and sent them to our trusted partners, Rader International, for a full refurbishment. Their expertise is unmatched, and they consistently deliver a flawless, factory-fresh finish.

Phase 2: Paint & Trim Correction – Bringing Back the Brilliance

Single Stage Paint Correction

With the wheels out for treatment, we moved onto the main event: paint correction. The metallic black finish was revived using a single-stage process designed to remove light swirls and surface imperfections. This method dramatically enhanced the paint's clarity and depth, allowing the metallic flake to finally shimmer and bringing back that deep, wet-look black gloss.

The Art of "Framing" the Car

During the decontamination, we noted that the black plastic trim pieces, particularly the arches and window surrounds that visually "frame" the paintwork, were faded and marked. This is a common issue, and addressing it is vital to a truly finished look.

A brilliantly corrected, high-gloss paint job can be completely undermined by dull, grey, or stained plastic and rubber trim. We believe that proper detailing means treating the car as a whole—making sure the glass is crystal clear, the tyres are dressed, and the plastic trims are deep black and protected. These surrounding elements act like a perfect frame around a masterpiece, making the central subject (the paint) look even more impactful.

Why Restore Plastic Trims?

Restoring and protecting plastic trims is important for several reasons:

  • Aesthetics: Restored trims complete the look, providing a rich, dark contrast against the vibrant paintwork. Grey, neglected trims are an immediate giveaway of an unfinished detail.

  • Protection & Longevity: Untreated plastic fades and cracks over time due to UV exposure. Restoring them helps block harmful UV rays, preserving the material's integrity.

  • Value: Maintaining the condition of all external components helps retain the vehicle's overall value.

To achieve this, we employed Solution Finish, a top-tier trim restorer. Unlike temporary dressings that simply mask fading with a greasy shine, Solution Finish uses advanced polymer technology to deeply penetrate the pores of the plastic and vinyl. It restores the original deep black colour, resulting in a matte, like-new appearance that is incredibly durable and long-lasting—the perfect, non-greasy finish for a professional job.

Phase 3: Ultimate Protection – Ceramic Coating & PPF

With the paint and trims corrected and flawless, it was time to lock in that perfection.

  • 9-Year Ceramic Coating: We applied a professional-grade, 9-year ceramic coating to the entire paint surface. This provides a hard, sacrificial layer that offers superior chemical resistance, UV protection, and incredible hydrophobic properties, ensuring the metallic black remains easy to clean and maintains its deep gloss for years to come.

  • High-Traffic PPF: We also identified key, high-traffic areas prone to scratching: the gloss black B-pillars and the rear boot lip. These areas constantly suffer from accidental contact. To provide the ultimate protection, we applied Suntek's self-healing Paint Protection Film (PPF). This advanced film is virtually invisible, incredibly durable, and has the fantastic ability to 'self-heal' minor scratches when exposed to heat—a perfect solution to keep these delicate areas looking new.

Phase 4: Interior & Final Touches

Finally, the wheels returned from Rader—looking absolutely incredible! They were given their own layer of ceramic coating for maximum durability and brake dust resistance before being refitted.

Inside, the cream leather interior received a high-level detail, expertly cleaned and conditioned. To tackle every last crumb and dust particle, we deployed our state-of-the-art Karcher Professional NT70/2 vacuum. With its twin motors generating an incredible 2 x 74 litres per second of airflow, even the deepest-seated dirt didn't stand a chance, leaving the interior spotless.

The project was completed with the final flourishes: perfectly dressed tyres (tyre shine) and crystal-clear glass. The result was a stunning Audi A4 Allroad, where every element—the deep black paint, the newly restored trims, the flawless wheels, and the sparkling interior—combined to create a truly exceptional finish.

If your vehicle needs the full transformation—from intensive deep clean detail to long-term ceramic coating or paint protection film—we have the expertise, products, and equipment to make it happen.
