Polestar 2 Paint Correction

Did you know that the Polestar 2’s headlight design was inspired by Origami?

I bet you can see it now you know…

There are some interesting design features on the Polestar 2 that make it somewhat unique in the electric car space, such as its wing mirrors and rear light blade.

The frameless wing mirrors are another standout design feature that make us wonder, why don’t other manufacturers do this more?

“…the rear-light blade uses 288 individually controlled LEDs to adjust to various driving situations. It shines brighter on sunny days to improve visibility, adapts to the dark to save power, and displays a welcome or farewell sequence when the driver touches the door handle.” - Polestar.com. How cool is that?!

Next, I should probably talk about why this Polestar came to JR Automotive. The owner had noticed some defects in the paintwork that the dealership had failed to rectify. There was evidence of previous polishing attempts and also various swirl marks and other paint issues that needed specialist treatment.

The owner knew where to bring her, as he had entrusted us with his previous vehicle, where we performed a paint correction and protection package.

After performing various test on the worst areas, we found a two-stage paint correction was going to be the sweet spot. This methodology enabled us to extract the deeper defects with the first polishing stage, and then to finish the paint to a very high gloss level with a second lighter stage across the whole car.

The gloss levels from the new Polestar paints are off the charts when polished. We were sorry to see her go, but we always love seeing the owner’s reaction when they walk through the door to their new car!
